Gamecocks in the NFL: Week 3 recap

The National Football League’s 2025 season rolled along as Week 3 action wrapped up on Monday Night.

Week 3 of the NFL saw a former Gamecock earning his first-ever activation while another returned to the practice squad.

Here is how every former South Carolina player performed in Week 3 of the NFL season.

AFC West

Kyle Kennard – EDGE/outside linebacker, Los Angeles Chargers

Kennard graded at 76.3 in the Chargers’ victory over the Broncos, only playing seven downs. The rookie picked up one tackle.

Tonka Hemingway – Defensive tackle, Las Vegas Raiders

Hemingway was inactive in the Raiders’ loss to the Washington Commanders.

Nate Adkins – Tight end, Denver Broncos

Adkins played 18 snaps in the Broncos’ loss on Sunday. He did not record any stats.

Nick Gargiulo – Guard, Denver Broncos

Gargiulo remains on the IR after tearing his ACL in the preseason.

Adam Prentice – Fullback, Denver Broncos

Prentice was reverted to the Broncos’ practice squad on Monday.

Zacch Pickens – Defensive end, Kansas City Chiefs

Pickens remains on the Chiefs’ practice squad. 

AFC East

TJ Sanders – Defensive tackle, Buffalo Bills

Sanders struggled in the Bills’ win over the Dolphins on Thursday Night, grading at 39 according to PFF.

Cam Smith – Cornerback, Miami Dolphins

Smith remains on the Dolphins’ “reserve/non-football injury” list as of Sept. 22.

Alex Huntley – Defensive tackle, Miami Dolphins

Huntley remains on the Dolphins’ practice squad.

Marcellas Dial – Defensive back, New England Patriots

Dial is sidelined with a torn ACL and will not return in 2025.

AFC North

Raheim “Rocket” Sanders – Running back, Cleveland Browns

Sanders was inactive in the Browns’ victory over Green Bay.

Demetrius Knight II – Linebacker, Cincinnati Bengals

Knight continued a strong start to his rookie campaign, picking up six tackles in the Bengals’ loss.

AFC South

Chris Lammons – Cornerback, Indianapolis Colts

Lammons remains on the Colts’ practice squad after not making the franchise’s 53-man roster.

NFC South

Jovaughn Gwyn – Center, Atlanta Falcons

Gwyn has yet to play during the 2025 season for the Falcons.

Joshua Simon – Tight end, Atlanta Falcons

Simon was active for the Falcons’ loss but still seeks his first playing time of his rookie season.

Jaycee Horn – Cornerback, Carolina Panthers

Horn had a solid day in the Panthers’ shutout victory over the Atlanta Falcons, picking up three tackles.

Xavier Legette – Wide receiver, Carolina Panthers

Legette was inactive in the Panthers’ blowout win over Atlanta as he continues to nurse a hamstring injury.

Dalevon Campbell – Wide receiver, Carolina Panthers

Campbell was activated on Sunday in Legette’s absence for the Panthers’ home opener.

DJ Wonnum – Outside linebacker, Carolina Panthers

Wonnum picked up two tackles against the Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

Rico Dowdle – Running back, Carolina Panthers

Dowdle scored his first touchdown as a Panther on Sunday in a game where the veteran back rushed for 30 yards on 10 carries.

Bam Martin-Scott – Inside linebacker, Carolina Panthers

Martin-Scott picked up two tackles in the Panthers’ win on Sunday afternoon.

Israel Mukuamu – Defensive back, Carolina Panthers

Mukuamu remains with the Panthers’ practice squad after being cut by Dallas.

Spencer Rattler – Quarterback, New Orleans Saints

Rattler threw for a season-high 218 yards in Sunday’s blowout loss to Seattle. He was also sacked twice and threw one touchdown to go with his first interception of the season.

Torricelli Simpkins III – Guard/Center, New Orleans Saints

Simpkins started on the Saints’ offensive line in Week 3.

Kai Kroeger – Punter, New Orleans Saints

Kroeger had a long day punting the ball for the Saints in the blowout loss. The rookie’s 61-yard punt turned into a Seahawks touchdown while a later punt was blocked.

NFC North

Keisean Nixon – Cornerback, Green Bay Packers

Nixon picked up four solo tackles in the Packers’ loss to Cleveland.

Kingsley Enagbare – Defensive end, Green Bay Packers

Enagbare was the top-rated defender for the Packers in Week 3, according to PFF (90.4), despite recording no tackles.

Vershon Lee – Guard/Center, Minnesota Vikings

Lee remains on the Vikings’ practice squad.

NFC East

Deebo Samuel – Wide receiver, Washington Commanders

Samuel leads the NFL in average kick return (36.8 YPR). However, the wideout struggled offensively in Week 3, catching only three passes for 11 yards to go alongside three carries for 18.

Javon Kinlaw – Defensive tackle, Washington Commanders

Kinlaw started for the Commanders in Week 3, picking up an assisted tackle in the win.

Darius Rush – Defensive back, Washington Commanders

Rush still works as a member of the Commanders’ practice squad.

Dante Miller – Running back, New York Giants

Miller remains on the Giants’ practice squad. However, with injury to Tyrone Tracy, there is a chance for activation in week four.

Jalen Brooks – Wide receiver, Dallas Cowboys

Brooks remains a member of the Cowboys’ practice squad.

Jadaveon Clowney Linebacker, Dallas Cowboys

Days before reporting to Dallas after being signed, Clowney was arrested in Rock Hill, S.C., due to a parking dispute. Clowney’s Sept. 12 arrest was for trespassing and failure to identify himself after attempting to park at a private apartment complex lot. He’s yet to suit up for his first game with his new team.

NFC West

Nick Emmanwori – Safety, Seattle Seahawks

Emmanwori returned to practice on Sept. 19 after being sidelined with an injury. With the Seahawks facing a short week ahead of Thursday Night Football, it is unknown if he will return to game action in week four.

Ernest Jones IV – Inside linebacker, Seattle Seahawks

Jones recorded seven tackles in the Seahawks’ blowout victory on Sunday. He graded out at a 69.3 according to PFF for his performance.
