In-state edge rusher commits to South Carolina

South Carolina’s 2025 class picked up another piece on Friday when Sumter (South Carolina) EDGE Anthony Addison announced his commitment to the Gamecocks.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder chose USC over offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, Oregon State, Tennessee, UCF, West Virginia, and others.
Addison becomes the fourth overall commit for the Gamecocks in the 2025 cycle and the third in the last week.
A regular visitor on campus in Columbia, Addison was back in town on Thursday, where he delivered the news in advance to head coach Shane Beamer. That afternoon, Beamer sent out his signature “#WelcomeHome” post on the X social media platform, signifying Addison’s choice.

Addison picked up his scholarship offer from South Carolina back in November, a few months after working out for outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas in camp.

Lucas seems to be a significant factor for Addison’s choice.
“I feel like he would be able to develop me into a player that can go to the league because South Carolina has a production of sending people to the league. You know how South Carolina does. And I feel like he’ll be able to develop me into a player that can go to the NFL because that’s my main goal,” Addison told GamecockCentral.com last November. “That’s something that I’ve been dreaming for since forever. And I feel like he’ll probably be able to help me get to that level.”

As a junior, Addison tallied 96 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 6 sacks for the Sumter Gamecocks. The On3 Industry Ranking – a weighted average of all four major recruiting services – ranks him as a three-star prospect and the sixth-best prospect in the Palmetto State for the 2025 class.
“The fan base is amazing. It’s crazy,” Addison said of South Carolina in a previous interview. “That’s one of the things I like about college football. Like the fans, it’s like thousands of people are coming from everywhere just to watch you play.”
