In state tight end commits to South Carolina

South Carolina football’s 2026 class picked up an intriguing in-state tight end prospect on Monday afternoon when Caden Ramsey announced his intentions to play for the Gamecocks at the next level.
Position coach Shawn Elliott formalized an offer to the Lowcountry product in June.
“My uncle played basketball for USC, and my cousin played football at USC and went on to the NFL,” Ramsey told GamecockCentral last month. “Coming from Cross, where people rarely come to check us out, I never imagined them having any interest in me. I live in SC, so of course I see tons of commercials about the Gamecocks. When I went to Junior Day, the staff down to the head coach spent time with all the potential players. It was really down to earth.”
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder also carried Power 4 offers from Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.
Ramsey had already familiarized himself with the South Carolina program prior to the Gamecocks extended an offer and got an in-depth look at Shane Beamer’s operation during a junior day event.

“Coach Elliott sat and had breakfast with my family (at the junior day). Things like that mean a lot to me,” Ramsey said. “Coach Elliott is a straight country boy and so am I. He came in jeans and cowboy boots. If you’re from the country like me, we respect that. Those boots were a sign to me of hard work.”
As a junior, Ramsey caught 40 passes for 749 yards and nine touchdowns. Through the first two games of the 2025 season, he’s logged 10 catches for 194 yards and a touchdown, per Maxpreps.
Rivals is the highest in the industry on Ramsey, who plays both ways for Shaun Wright at Cross High. The service ranks him the No. 20 tight end in the class and No. 7 overall prospect in the Palmetto State for 2026.
