Looking at recent running back offers for South Carolina

South Carolina football is still looking for a running back in the 2025 class. A few new scholarship offers have gone out in recent days.
One went out to three-star Daune Morris, a current Southern California commitment.
The Chattanooga (Tennessee) Oakland product pledged in April to Lincoln Riley, picking the Trojans over a host of other offers from the SEC and beyond.
He rushed for over 2,000 yards as a junior, and the Gamecocks were not in the top ten he released prior to his verbal commitment to Southern Cal.
That made sense at the time since South Carolina had not yet offered. Is this a name to watch? Time will tell; Morris has at least entertained some other schools. On3’s Steve Wiltfong has previously reported that Colorado has been involved.

Virginia’s Jeffrey Overton has been on South Carolina’s board for some time, but it wasn’t until recently that he officially picked up an offer.
A two-time VHSL Class 6A State Offensive Player of the Year, he has offers from Maryland, Ohio State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and others.
Maryland currently leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for the three-star prospect. His uncle, Darryl, is the head coach at Hayfield, where he will play his senior season. His father is the defensive coordinator for the program.

Texas product Jayden Jackson has been on Marquel Blackwell’s radar for a while, and the 6-foot, 225-pounder picked up an official offer. Texas and Boston College have also offered.
Blackwell was aware of Jackson from his time at Texas A&M, thus the connection. It seems likely that Jackson will make his way to Columbia for a visit at some point soon.
For the 2025 cycle, it looks like the South Carolina staff will look to sign at least one running back from the high school ranks.
The position was heavy in terms of number – out of necessity – in the 2024 class. In addition to four-star Matthew Fuller from the state of Georgia, USC signed a trio of backs from the transfer portal.
Rocket Sanders (Arkansas), Jawarn Howell (SC State), and Oscar Adaway (North Texas) all enrolled in January in Columbia.
