Former South Carolina TE Jacob August joins Gamecock Central’s Mike Uva for this week’s episode of Mix in a Water Monday. WATCH ABOVE

The two take a deeper look into South Carolina’s loss against Missouri including August’s thoughts on moving forward with five more games remaining.

“Someone needs to step up. There’s so many different personalities in a locker room,” said August. “There’s leaders, there’s dawgs, there’s individual contributors, there’s motivators. Someone who you didn’t necessarily expect to be a vocal leader needs to change the norm. The problem is, and this is with any type of organization, you’re stuck in the status quo or whatever the standard is. Right now the standard is 2-5.

“Something needs to change and somebody needs to be that voice. Whether that’s using your actual voice or being on the field and saying that something needs to change and I’m gonna be the catalyst for this change. I don’t know who that is but the players know who that is and the coaches know who it is. There’s no longer these conversations with pulling them to the side and saying, ‘hey, we gotta get you to do this’ or ‘we gotta get you to do that.’ That dude has got to be the one who comes into practice this week and says that something has to change.”
