Rivals was already pretty high on once-under-the-radar tight end Caden Ramsey, and now the network is even higher on the new South Carolina commitment.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder who committed to the Gamecocks last week is now considered a four-star prospect on Rivals. He is ranked the No. 18 tight end in the class of 2026 and the No. 6 prospect in South Carolina.

Rivals originally had Ramsey as a high three-star and the No. 20 tight end, so he was already on the cusp of Blue Chip status.

A jumbo athlete who excels at wide receiver and safety at Cross (S.C.) High — and on the basketball court — Ramsey will transition to tight end in Columbia, where he hopes to be the next athlete from rural South Carolina to excel in the Garnet and Black.

There’s the biggest disparity between Ramsey’s Rivals and 247Sports rankings as any Gamecock prospect in recent memory.

247Sports currently ranks him the No. 256 tight end in the country and No. 28 prospect in the Palmetto State. ESPN has not yet ranked him.

Ramsey, who was recruited to Carolina by assistant Shawn Elliott, chose the Gamecocks last week over Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.

“It was a big decision. It was a hard decision, too. I went to a bunch of different schools, but South Carolina was the one. It was definitely home,” he told GamecockCentral. “The fans, they are definitely there, they’re always gonna be there. And that team, when I see that color come out, and the coaches, definitely I loved it.”

As a junior, Ramsey caught 40 passes for 749 yards and nine touchdowns with an insane 13 interceptions on defense. Through the first four games of the 2025 season, he’s logged 19 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown and four more picks, per MaxPreps.
