Notes from Shane Beamer's appearance at Welcome Home Tour in Greenville

South Carolina football head coach Shane Beamer was back on the road for another Welcome Home Tour stop on Thursday, this time meeting with fans in Greenville.
The fifth-year head coach spoke with the media prior to the event.
Following is a summary of the most important points from the conversation:

— The biggest news of the night was Beamer confirming that Vicari Swain is set to rejoin the team and will be back with the program officially during the Summer I school sessios.
— Cutter Woods, who’s attending the event on Thursday night, has done “a lot” to impress Beamer so far. In addition to calling him a winner, Beamer said that he’s similar to LaNorris Sellers in that nothing really gets to him.
— Every offseason, Beamer visits other programs to try to learn and get better. On Wednesday, he was in the DC area and met with Bob Chesney from James Madison as well as Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders. He also talked with former Gamecock quarterback Dylan Thompson, who’s on the Commanders staff, while in town.

— Beamer said he didn’t know that Rahsul Faison hiring an attorney to help with his NCAA waiver request was coming and that he saw on social media like everyone else, but reiterated his support again of Faison in his quest for another year.
— Asked about Nick Saban’s forthcoming appointment to the President’s commission on college athletics, Beamer said that he had heard about it and read about it. He didn’t know enough yet to comment on the committee itself, but said that if you’re looking for someone to help revamp college sports, that he couldn’t think of a beter choice than Saban.
