Nyck Harbor update from Shane Beamer after Texas A&M loss

Nyck Harbor had a career-best performance in South Carolina’s 31-30 loss to No. 3 Texas A&M on Saturday. However, his day ended abruptly when he went down with an injury in the late going.
With under three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Harbor caught an 18-yard pass on 4th and 6 to keep the Gamecocks alive in a one-point game. However, after making the grab, Harbor was lying on his side and not moving as the training staff came to him.
Eventually, Harbor walked back to the South Carolina sideline with the trainers and went into the medical tent. Right before the game ended, he was seen walking back to the locker room with a trainer.
Following the loss, head coach Shane Beamer provided a brief update on Harbor’s status.
“As I walked in here, the plan was to take him to the hospital,” Beamer said. “Just saw him in the training room with his dad. He landed on the sideline, and the guy came down on his chest. So I think they just want to, from a precautionary standpoint, make sure everything’s OK. So keep him in your prayers.”
Harbor finished with three catches for a career-high 102 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown catch and run he had in the second quarter that gave South Carolina a 27-3 lead.

After scoring on the play, Harbor ran straight into one of the tunnels at field level, where a Texas DPS Trooper was seen shouldering into Harbor and Oscar Adaway III.
When asked about that situation, Beamer said he wasn’t aware of what had happened.
“Got a ton of respect for the people here in College Station,” he said. “They’re just a first-class operation, everybody. From a game operation standpoint, they really do a great job. They’re first-class people, so appreciate them handling that the right way, sending (the trooper) home.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety put out a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) at 3:06 p.m. on Saturday, stating that they were aware of the incident and sent the DPS Trooper home.
“Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter,” the statement reads. “No additional information will be released at this time.”
