Shane Beamer provides injury update on two starters following LSU loss

South Carolina saw two starters, one on offense and one on defense, go down with injuries and never return in a 20-10 loss at LSU on Saturday.
Offensive lineman Shed Sarratt and defensive back Brandon Cisse both suffered first-half injuries that resulted in neither of them being able to come back.
“Clint (Haggard), our trainer, felt like they were clear, not clear, but able to come back if they felt well enough to,” head coach Shane Beamer said. “But they didn’t feel well enough to.”
Sarratt went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter during Matthew Fuller’s 72-yard touchdown run that gave the Gamecocks their only lead of the night. While the players were celebrating the score, Sarratt lay on the ground until the training staff came over to attend to him.
Cisse suffered a knee injury at the beginning of the second quarter. It took a few minutes before he came up off the ground after being tended to by the trainers. Beamer and a few players came over to check on him during that time before he got up. When he eventually did, he had to be helped off the field.

Sarratt was spotted using crutches after his injury. Cisse sported a brace/wrap around his left leg, though he didn’t have crutches.
“We didn’t hold them out in the second half,” Beamer said. “They just didn’t feel well enough to be able to get back out there and play.”
South Carolina will return home next Saturday, Oct. 18, to face No. 6 Oklahoma, which is no longer unbeaten after losing to Texas earlier in the day. Kickoff is set for 12:45 p.m. on SEC Network.
