Shane Beamer‘s postgame opening statement on Saturday ran nearly six minutes, yet there wasn’t any mention of injuries.

That was until the final minutes of his press conference, when the question about the injuries finally came up.

Following South Carolina’s 35-13 win over Kentucky, Beamer provided a brief injury update with some promising news for when the Gamecocks return to action after their upcoming bye week.

Starting offensive linemen Cason Henry and Nolan Hay missed Saturday’s game with their own injuries, forcing others to step up in their absence. But Beamer seemed optimistic about when they could return.

“I would say that we’re optimistic for LSU in a couple of weeks,” Beamer said. “But I’ll have a better update for you. Do we do the teleconference tomorrow night? Yes, awesome. So I’ll have an update for you then.”

Henry was seen sporting a sling over his left arm. Hay was wearing a black brace on his knee. Rodney Newsom got the start at center, while Tree Babalade filled in at right tackle.

Staying on the offensive line, Markee Anderson had to be helped off the field twice throughout the evening. He came back in after his first injury scare and played some on the line.

But in the fourth quarter, he was spotted on the ground and had to be helped off the field by the training staff. Anderson didn’t look to have put much pressure on one of his legs as he went towards the sideline.

“I haven’t even talked to Clint (Haggard), our trainer,” Beamer said. “Markee hurt his knee on that, I guess, right there on that last drive, and had to get helped off. I don’t know the status of him.”

Aside from Anderson, Beamer felt relatively good about where the team stands on the injury front.

“I think everybody is okay,” he said. “… The rest of those guys that got knocked out came back.”

South Carolina will be on its bye week next week. The Gamecocks will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they travel to Baton Rouge to face No. 4 LSU.

An official kickoff time won’t be revealed until Monday, but it will be sometime between 3:30 and 8 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
