Shane Beamer updates South Carolina injuries following Missouri loss

South Carolina will come away with a couple more injuries following a tough 29-20 loss to No. 23 Missouri on Saturday.
Head coach Shane Beamer said there were “a lot” of injuries throughout the night, even before the game started.
DQ Smith was taken off the SEC injury report before the game. But when the game started, he wasn’t out on the field with the rest of the defensive starters. He stood on the sideline, in full uniform, without his helmet, and didn’t play at all in the loss.
“DQ had a little bit of a quad contusion that flared up in pregame warmups and said he couldn’t go,” Beamer said.
Beamer also mentioned Trovon Baugh as another player who had been dealing with an injury heading into the game. While the junior offensive lineman was never included on the injury report, he didn’t see any action on Saturday.
“He’s kind of had a nagging injury this week,” Beamer said. “He was available, but he wasn’t 100 percent.”
Baugh had started the first three games of the season at right guard. He was on the field during pregame warmups in full uniform. But he wasn’t a part of the first or second team offensive lines during that time.

South Carolina had some notable changes to its starting five on the line, with Nolan Hay making the start at center, while Boaz Stanley slid over to right guard in place of Baugh. Josiah Thompson, Shed Sarratt and Cason Henry all remained as normal starters, but it wasn’t long before another change had to be made.
After only one play, Henry, who started at right tackle, came out of the game and went into the medical tent. Tree Babalade, who filled in for an injured Henry last weekend, took over at right tackle for the rest of the night as Henry had a shoulder injury, per South Carolina’s radio broadcast.
Beamer didn’t mention any other specific injuries, only referencing that a few guys “got banged up” during the game. He will have a more in-depth injury report when he meets with the media for his weekly teleconference on Sunday.
South Carolina will be back at home on Saturday, Sept. 27, before heading into its first bye week. The Gamecocks will face Kentucky at 7:45 p.m. on SEC Network.
