South Carolina adds another outfielder, 10th overall commitment of portal cycle

South Carolina has its 10th commitment of the transfer portal cycle. Outfielder Ethan Lizama committed to the Gamecocks late Wednesday night.
In just one day, South Carolina has added two outfielders out of the portal, a position of high priority for the team this offseason. Wofford transfer Tyler Bak committed earlier on Wednesday.

Lizama spent the last two seasons at Western Kentucky and will have one year of eligibility remaining. He’s also draft-eligible. With the Hilltoppers, he hit .323 lifetime with 24 homers and 102 RBI in 116 career games.
He had a huge season in 2025, finishing with a .336 average, 15 homers, 18 doubles and 60 RBI. He also had a .646 slugging and .407 on-base percentage (1.053 OPS).

In the outfield this year, primarily playing right field, Lizama made three errors and had a .975 fielding percentage.
Before joining Western Kentucky in 2024, Lizama spent two seasons at Gulf Coast State College. While there, the left-handed slugger hit .300 with 17 homers and 96 RBI in 92 games.
South Carolina has also added Louisiana-Monroe reliever Josh Gregoire, Purdue first baseman Logan Sutter, Samford two-way player Cullen Horowicz, USC Upstate right-hander Amp Phillips, Sacred Heart right-hander Elijah Foster, Georgia shortstop Erik Parker, Wake Forest right-hander Josh Gunther and Virginia left-hander Bradley Hodges.
The transfer portal opened on Monday, June 2, and will remain open until July 1 for all players.
