Despite a really challenging spring, South Carolina baseball has done a good job retooling its roster ahead of the 2026 season. Barring any changes due to the MLB Draft, the Gamecocks have six high school signees, 12 (so far) transfer portal pledges, and seven junior college players who will be joining the program.

Of those JuCo products, two of them recently earned first-team All-American honors from the National Junior College Athletics Association. Infielders Patrick Evans (Florence-Darlington Tech) and Dawson Harman (College of Central Florida) picked up the recognition.

Evans, a big, athletic infielder who could factor into position battles at multiple spots next spring. The Region 10 Player of the Year in the junior college ranks, Evans helped guide his Florence-Darlington Tech team to the NJCAA Division-I World Series. On the season, he slashed a ridiculous .453/.509/.700/1.209 with 10 home runs, 15 doubles, 75 RBI, and 66 runs. He also stole 18 bases and split time between shortstop and third base. He will have two years left to play with the Gamecocks.

Harman is a corner infield/corner outfield/designated hitter candidate for next season at South Carolina. The 6-4, 234-pounder swings a big right-handed bat. This year, he swatted 24 home runs and 20 doubles en route to a preposterous .370/.496/.840/1.336 slash line. The big fella also knocked in 65 runners while scoring 71 for himself. Harman was the Citrus Conference Player of the Year and Region 8 Player of the Year.
