South Carolina baseball's series finale against Tennessee gets new start time

South Carolina baseball couldn’t hold on to a late lead against the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. For the second day in a row, the Gamecocks outhit the Vols but weren’t able to outscore them, losing 5-7. On Sunday, USC will have one final shot to earn a win and salvage the series.
However, that contest will not begin at 5:00 p.m. as originally scheduled.

Because of the threat of bad weather on Sunday evening, Sunday’s first pitch will be at Noon. Even with the schedule change, weather could still be a factor in game three of the SEC series. Current forecasts call for chances of storms in the mid-afternoon, as well. An early start is the only realistic possibility of the Gamecocks and Volunteers finishing Sunday’s finale.

Tickets will remain valid for those who purchased them for the original 5:00 first pitch. As of a Saturday night update from the program, SEC Network will no longer broadcast the game because of a conflict with the new time. SEC Network+ on the ESPN app will make the contest available for streaming.
South Carolina baseball coach Paul Mainieri hasn’t announced his team’s starting pitcher for the game. Typical Sunday starter Dylan Eskew will miss his second Sunday in a row after dealing with a concussion and oblique injury stemming from a batting practice home run ball hitting him in the head last weekend against Arkansas.
