South Carolina baseball lands commitment from intriguing transfer portal bat

South Carolina baseball needed to overhaul its roster this offseason through the transfer portal. So far, with double-digit transfer additions, head coach Paul Mainieri and his staff have worked toward doing just that. On Tuesday, the Gamecocks added a commitment from Louisiana outfielder/first baseman Luke Yuhasz. He is the fifth player with outfield experience to commit to USC from the portal this cycle.
Yuhasz spent the last three years in Lafayette, including two 40-win campaigns as one of the best teams in the Sun Belt. He played two of those years as an outfielder and designated hitter but played primarily first base this year. This spring, he was an All-Sun Belt Tournament performer with nine hits and four runs scored in four games. On the 2025 season, he slashed .320/.376/.578/.954 with six home runs in 38 games played.

Though he hasn’t put too many balls over the fence in his career, Yuhasz has some untapped power potential. With a 6-4, 205-pound frame, he showcased some pop the past two seasons but dealt with a nagging shoulder issue this spring. Even so, he averaged right around one long ball every 18 at-bats in 2024 and 2025 combined. Only Ethan Petry had a better AB/HR ratio for the 2025 version of the Gamecocks. Assuming Yuhasz can bounce back fully healthy, a double-digit home run total could be within reach if things go well for him in Columbia.
A rising senior, Yuhasz will have one year of eligibility remaining to play at South Carolina.
