Gamecock pitcher, South Carolina native to enter transfer portal

South Carolina pitcher Wyatt Evans intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. He announced the news on social media on Monday.
Said Evans, “I want to thank South Carolina for giving me the opportunity to continue my baseball career. I’m thankful for all the memories and friends I made along the way. With that being said, I will be entering the transfer portal on June 2nd to continue my baseball career.” Evans also added that he plans to play in the summer MLB Draft League with the State College Spikes.

The Greenville native and JL Mann product never pitched in the regular season for the Gamecocks. He transferred into the program this offseason after three injury-riddled years at Tennessee.
Over the last week, fellow Gamecocks Tyler June, Cayden Gaskin, and Ryan Bakes announced their intentions to transfer, as well. The portal does not open officially for underclassmen until June 2nd, though graduates may enter at any time.
