South Carolina sophomore pitcher Tyler Pitzer is entering the transfer portal, he announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday.

“After much thought and consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I am excited for what is to come,” Pitzer said in the post. “Thank you Gamecock Nation for all of the love and support. I wish nothing but the best for the team moving forward.”

Pitzer primarily contributed out of the bullpen this past season, but he also made two midweek starts against Presbyterian on April 1 and USC Upstate on April 8. He pitched to a 4-0 record, 6.99 ERA and 2.10 WHIP in 28.1 innings across 19 total appearances last year, striking out 32 batters and walking 28.

Pitzer has two years of eligibility remaining after spending the first two seasons of his college baseball career with South Carolina. He leaves the program with an 8-1 record, 5.63 ERA and 89 punchouts across 72 innings pitched.

With his announcement, Pitzer became the fourth pitcher to enter the transfer portal, following Roman Kimball, Wyatt Evans and Eddie Copper. He is also the ninth Gamecock regardless of position to do so.
