South Carolina basketball coach Lamont Paris is looking to lead the Gamecocks in a bounce-back effort this season. The Gamecocks went 12-20 last year and have completely overhauled the roster, bringing in 11 new players. (There is one unused scholarship slot at the moment, so an additional move could be in the works if the right player comes along.)

Per a report from Jon Rothstein, USC has learned one of its top out-of-conference matchups in the annual ACC/SEC Challenge. In what will be a rematch from last year’s Fort Myers Tip-Off, South Carolina will take on Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks defeated the Hokies during the 2024-2025 season by a final score of 70-60. South Carolina also knocked off Tech the season before in the Hall of Fame Series in Charlotte. According to Rothstein, official dates and tip times for the ACC/SEC Challenge will come at a later date.

While the previous two games against Virginia Tech came in natural-site contests, this year’s will be at Colonial Life Arena. Carolina is 2-0 in the ACC/SEC Challenge, having beaten Notre Dame in the 2023-2024 season and Boston College last year.
