South Carolina's Collin Murray-Boyles has big night in NBA Summer League
Former South Carolina basketball star Collin Murray-Boyles has had high expectations placed on him since he was drafted with the ninth pick of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. On Thursday, the Columbia native had his best overall showing in NBA Summer League, hinting at what he can accomplish as a pro.
In what became an 81-69 win over the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League squad, Murray-Boyles dominated. The former Gamecock logged 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting in 25 minutes on the floor. He also pulled down nine rebounds, stole the ball four times, and dished out a pair of assists. Six of his rebounds came on the offensive glass, and he knocked down a 3-pointer. CMB threw down some thunderous dunks, too, and finished through contact on the block multiple times. Demonstrating his excellence, Murray-Boyles posted a game-high +22 +/- rating.

Murray-Boyles has showcased some serious defensive chops in early Summer League action. He has defended well in the post and has done a good job switching on the perimeter and defending in space. If he can clean up his fouling, he could be an impact defensive player in year one with the Raptors.
Fellow South Carolina basketball alum AJ Lawson had a 12-point, five-assist, three-rebound, three-steal performance against Golden State on Thursday. He also made a couple of 3-pointers as he vies for a permanent role in Toronto. Lawson has been one of the top performers in the Las Vegas portion of NBA Summer League. Though he and Murray-Boyles did not play together in college, they displayed good defensive chemistry on Thursday, successfully trapping and forcing a turnover from a Warriors guard, leading to a big dunk in transition from the rookie.
