South Carolina basketball commit matches all-time scoring record

Future South Carolina Gamecock EJ Walker made history on Sunday. With a 63-57 win over Summit County in the Griffin Elite Classic, Walker tied the all-time scoring mark at Lloyd Memorial High School. He has scored 1588 points and will set a new Lloyd Memorial record his next time on the floor. On the season, he is averaging just under 20 points per game.

Walker, a 3-star prospect in the 2025 class according to On3’s industry rankings, is the No. 40-ranked power forward nationally. He brings a lot of upside to the table because of his scoring ability, positional flexibility, and physical makeup.
Walker is a shot-maker from all three levels. At 6’8″, he can get clean looks at any time away from the basket when matched up with smaller players. In the post, he has a smooth fallaway jumper and good footwork. His ballhandling is improving, too, giving him the ability to get to his spots on the floor. Because of his size and athleticism, he can take advantage of that scoring acumen as a traditional forward or as a big wing.

As the son of a coach, Walker’s basketball IQ is advanced. He knows how to move off-ball and makes smart decisions on the court. He also told GamecockCentral in the fall that he can wear multiple hats and is willing to do “whatever it takes to win.” That will translate well to his future in Columbia, especially since he could see time at several positions for Lamont Paris’ team.

Walker is one of four South Carolina basketball signees in the class of 2025. Dynamic scoring guard Eli Ellis, athletic forward Hayden Assemian, and sharpshooting wing Grant Polk also will be part of the 2025-2026 Gamecocks.
