On Friday, Rivals’ Jamie Shaw reported that class of 2027 wing Marlon Martinez, a standout at the Academy of Central Florida, had scheduled an official visit to the University of South Carolina. According to Shaw’s report, Martinez will be on campus in Columbia next weekend, starting on Friday, October 17th.

Martinez is a 6-5 shooting guard who knows how to put the ball in the basket. He averaged nearly 15 points per game last season at Bishop Laughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, New York but had a really nice summer on the AAU circuit.

Measured with a 6-9 wingspan last summer, Martinez has plus-length for a wing. He also is an emerging athlete with an improving handle. He can score at all three levels and has experience playing on the ball and on the wing.

Martinez has other power conference offers from Illinois and Mississippi State. South Carolina offered him in July. The Gamecocks are the first major program to get him in on an official visit.

Despite ESPN not having ranked Martinez, the junior sits at No. 129 overall in the Rivals Industry Ranking–a composite average of the rankings from Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN. He is also No. 31 nationally among shooting guards. Martinez is No. 20 in the loaded state of Florida. Had he not transferred from New York, his overall ranking would have been 5th in the Empire State.

South Carolina does not yet have a class of 2027 commitment. Guard Isaac Ellis, younger brother of USC freshman guard Eli Ellis, is pledged in the 2026 cycle, representing the only future commit for the Gamecocks at this time.
