This offseason, the South Carolina basketball roster has undergone a drastic makeover. As things stand, 10 of 13 scholarship players from last year’s team won’t be at USC for the 2025-2026 campaign.

Collin Murray-Boyles declared for the NBA Draft, Jacobi Wright and Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk exhausted their eligibility and graduated, and seven players–Nick Pringle, Zach Davis, Morris Ugusuk, Austin Herro, Arden Conyers, Okku Federiko, and Jamarii Thomas (who also should be out of eligibility–hit the transfer portal. Rising sophomore wing Cam Scott entered the portal, too, but he withdrew and will return to the Gamecocks. Redshirt senior Myles Stute and rising junior Jordan Butler will be back.

To replace all the holes on the roster (and to fill the two extra spots caused by the NCAA’s expansion to a 15-scholarship limit), South Carolina is bringing in (so far) six transfers and five high school players. Moravian Prep/YNG Dreamerz wing Abu Yarmah is the most recent of these 11 commitments. He was a teammate of two other USC commits, signees Eli Ellis and Hayden Assemian.

Following the pledge, here’s how South Carolina basketball has positioned itself in the national recruiting rankings.

The On3 industry ranking now considers Lamont Paris’ high school class as the No. 52 high school class in America. That also makes South Carolina’s class the No. 15 group in the SEC. Only Vanderbilt (89th) ranks lower in the conference.

SG/PG Eli Ellis: No. 68 overall, No. 20 SG, No. 4 in North Carolina
PF EJ Walker: No. 182 overall, No. 38 PF, No. 2 in Kentucky
SF/SG Grant Polk: No. 242 overall, No. 46 SF, No. 6 in Washington DC
PF Hayden Assemian: No. 244 overall, No. 58 PF, No. 14 in North Carolina
SF Abu Yarmah: Unranked

On3 rates transfer classes based on relative improvement (or lack thereof) and not as a complete ranking against other programs. Even so, the Gamecocks’ transfer portal class is listed as On3’s 15th-best group. With six incoming transfers and seven outgoing, the Gamecocks have earned a net positive rating in On3’s portal metrics. Though it is not a true team-versus-team ranking, only four SEC teams (Kentucky, Texas, Tennessee, and Auburn) are above Carolina.

*Players’ positions are listed as the position they were ranked coming out of high school, not necessarily where they will play at South Carolina*

PF Elijah Strong: No. 320 overall transfer, No. 74 transfer PF
PG/SG Meechie Johnson: No. 325 overall transfer, No. transfer 54 PG
PF/C Christ Essandoko: No. 335 overall transfer, No. 76 transfer PF
SG Kobe Knox: No. 408 overall transfer, No. 107 transfer SG
PF Nordin Kapic: No. 489 overall transfer, No. 105 transfer PF
SG/SF Mike Sharavjamts: No. 189 overall transfer in 2024, No. 34 transfer SG in 2024; Sharavjamts does not have a 2025 transfer portal ranking

South Carolina has one scholarship available at the time of this writing. However, a Collin Murray-Boyles NBA Draft reversal or another transfer portal pledge will change that number.
