Darius Rucker free concert for students announced to celebrate women's basketball's national title
One of South Carolina’s most famous alumni is a man of his word.
Darius Rucker will officially perform a free concert for South Carolina students only, the university announced Monday afternoon, in honor of the Gamecocks’ women’s basketball program’s second national title.
The concert will be Sunday, April 24 at Colonial Life Arena with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Students are able to sign up for a letter to win a ticket and all South Carolina students—regardless of campus—are eligible for one free ticket to the concert.
According to the university, requests will be “honored in the order in which they are received and those students receiving a ticket will be contacted on April 19 about ticket delivery.”

South Carolina’s women’s basketball program finished its march to a title just over a week ago, dismantling every team they faced in the tournament. They ultimately beat UConn by 15 points, the Huskies’ first loss in a title game under Geno Auriemma.
The parade celebrating the title is Wednesday evening beginning at 6 p.m. The parade will go down Main Street and end at the State House.
