South Carolina earns commitment from right-hander Elijah Foster

Right-handed pitcher Elijah Foster has committed to South Carolina, he announced in an Instagram post Friday afternoon.
“I’m thankful for the past two years at Sacred Heart. With that being said I’m happy to announce my commitment to the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks!” Foster wrote in his post.
Foster spent two seasons at Sacred Heart, where he went 5-1 with a 4.53 ERA over 59.2 innings in 2024, earning himself All-NEC Second Team honors. He struck out 80 batters and walked 48.

His numbers took a bit of a hit in 2025 as he went 5-3 with a 5.23 ERA in 72.1 innings of work. He finished with 76 strikeouts, but once again, walks were an issue for him as he had 53 on the year. His struggles coincidentally began against the Gamecocks in a Feb. 15 start, where he gave up six runs in three innings.

Despite this, Foster still held opponents to a .216 batting average over his two seasons with the Pioneers.

This has been a very active offseason for South Carolina as it looks to bounce back from a disappointing 28-29 record this season. The Gamecocks have now added five transfers, including Louisiana-Monroe reliever Josh Gregoire, Purdue first baseman Logan Sutter, Samford two-way player Cullen Horowicz and USC Upstate right-hander Amp Phillips.
The transfer portal opened on Monday, June 2, and will remain open until July 1 for all players.
