South Carolina extends offer to intriguing in-state tight end

South Carolina has extended an offer to a high-upside, under-the-radar in-state athlete that the Gamecocks have had their eyes on for some time.
Cross (S.C.) class of 2026 standout Caden Ramsey, who GamecockCentral reported in February was under evaluation by the staff, landed an offer from South Carolina on Friday.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Cross is being recruited by some schools to play wide receiver, the position he primarily plays in high school, but the Gamecocks and Shawn Elliott have offered him as a tight end.

Ramsey also has scholarships from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Georgia Tech, South Florida, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.
South Carolina would like to sign two high school tight ends in its 2026 class and is looking for a player to pair with long-time commitment, Newberry (S.C.) four-star tight end Jamel Howse.
Ramsey has not been ranked yet by On3. He is also a standout on the basketball court.
