South Carolina football: 3-2-1 - #13 Kentucky

GamecockCentral breaks down the key moments from South Carolina’s 24-14 win over #13 Kentucky.
Three Key Plays
1. Fumble
On the first play of the game, Kentucky tried to run a reverse. David Spaulding got into the backfield and forced a fumble on the attempted handoff. Tonka Hemingway recovered and returned the turnover to the Kentucky two-yard line. South Carolina scored on the next play to take a quick 7-0 lead and reverse the season-long trend of slow starts.
2. Screen pass to Wells
South Carolina struggled to move the ball in the first half, but it was a different story in the second half. Trying to throw downfield didn’t work in the first half, so South Carolina found other ways to get the ball to its playmakers. One of those was a screen to Antwane Wells. He picked up a nice block from Josh Vann and raced 42 yards for a touchdown. The score seemed to wake up the Gamecocks and they dominated the second half.
3. Reverse to Brooks
South Carolina finished its scoring with a 24-yard reverse run by Jalen Brooks. It was another way of getting the ball to a playmaker, and Brooks got some fantastic blocks. MarShawn Lloyd was the lead blocker and cleared a path to the end zone. Wells threw a crushing block to get Brooks around the edge and then raced downfield to throw another block as Brooks cut back toward the end zone. The play was so well-blocked that nobody came close to tackling Brooks, and the three-score lead put the game out of reach.
