Following a disappointing outing on Saturday night in which they lost at home to Vanderbilt by a score of 31-7, South Carolina football moved to 2-1 on the season. Then, on Sunday, the updated AP poll saw the Gamecocks slip out of the top 25 rankings.

USC found itself in the “also receiving votes” portion of the AP poll. After being ranked by all but one voter as recently as last week, South Carolina made its way onto less than half of AP ballots this week.

Somehow, the Gamecocks still picked up three top 20 rankings (including one voter who inexplicably moved Carolina up from No. 11 to No. 10). In total, 24 voters included Shane Beamer’s team on their personal top 25 ballots.
