On Saturday, College GameDay was in Athens, Georgia for the top 10 matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and Ole Miss Rebels. The battle of SEC contenders saw the usual panel of Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, and Kirk Herbstreit in attendance. The show (understandably) spent much of its time talking Bulldogs vs. Rebels, but there was other college football talk, as well. South Carolina’s home game against Oklahoma came up.

Though not directly involving the Gamecocks, Georgia grad Rodrigo Blankenship subbed in to participate in Pat McAfee’s Kicking Challenge. He drilled the kick, something he wasn’t able to do when USC defeated No. 3 Georgia in Athens back in 2019.

Earlier in the show, South Carolina caught a few strays when the GameDay crew broke down LSU-Vanderbilt, a game featuring two teams that beat USC this season.

They softened the blows a bit by expressing their feelings that today’s game will be a tough test for Oklahoma. Desmond Howard said the Gamecocks “need” a win on Saturday. Others at the table argued that Oklahoma needed the win, too.

Every Saturday, College GameDay also picks what they deem the best games of the weekend. Matchups like Vanderbilt-LSU, Duke-Georgia Tech, Washington-Michigan, Texas Tech-Arizona State, Southern Cal-Notre Dame, Utah-BYU, and Tennessee-Alabama joined the Georgia-Ole Miss game. Despite mentioning the game earlier in the broadcast, the panel did not pick South Carolina-Oklahoma.

This marked the third game in a row without Gamecock representation for the picks.

South Carolina (3-3; 1-3) and Oklahoma (5-1; 1-1) will kick off at 12:47 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium. The afternoon affair is sold out. SEC Network will carry the television broadcast, while the ESPN app will make the conference clash available via streaming.

Oklahoma enters as a 5.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM. The Sooners are ranked as the No. 14 team in the AP poll and No. 13 in the coaches poll. South Carolina, though ranked as high as No. 10 earlier this year, is unranked heading into Saturday.
