On Saturday, for the final time, legendary ESPN personality Lee Corso joined the College GameDay crew for the biggest pregame show in the college football world. Alongside regular contributors Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, and Rece Davis (and former host Chris Fowler), Croso and company are in Columbus, Ohio for a top-five matchup between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns. Unfortunately for Gamecock fans, there was not a lot of South Carolina-Virginia Tech talk.

Between Corso tributes, OSU-UT conversations, and discussions about Saturday games, the Sunday matchup was pushed to the back burner.

Every Saturday, College GameDay picks the best games of the weekend.

When it came time for the GameDay crew to make their week one selections, South Carolina-Virginia Tech saw a unified panel of pickers. They all picked the Gamecocks without any hedging.

Howard said he “really likes” Shane Beamer’s team and called LaNorris Sellers a “superstar.” McAfee also talked up Sellers and the Gamecocks and predicted a strong season for USC. Saban called the outcome of the game against Virginia Tech “no question” in favor of South Carolina. Herbstreit thought the emotions of Beamer facing his alma mater could lead to a lopsided margin if things go well on Sunday. Corso even said that he believes Sellers could be a top candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Though he doesn’t often give official picks, host Rece Davis agreed with the pro-Carolina sentiments.

Corso also donned the Brutus the Buckeye mascot head (picking Ohio State to beat Texas) in his final headgear pick.
