On Saturday, College GameDay was in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a showdown between the Pitt Panthers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The battle of ranked contenders saw the usual panel of Desmond Howard, Rece Davis, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, and Kirk Herbstreit in attendance. The show (understandably) spent much of its time talking about the Panthers and Irish. Even so, there was other college football talk, as well. South Carolina’s road game against Texas A&M came up.

During the worldwide leader’s pregame show, they had a segment in which Aggies head coach Mike Elko was mic’d up. There wasn’t much actual conversation about South Carolina, however. Reports surfaced during the broadcast that the A&M headman was finalizing a big-money contract extension with the school, as well.

A discussion about the College Football Playoff occurred shortly after the brief Elko segment. Texas A&M, obviously, came up. The Aggies’ matchup with the Gamecocks did not at that time.

When the panel eventually spent a moment on the game, Herbstreit said flatly, “[South Carolina] has not had a very good year.” He also lamented the preseason expectations on quarterback LaNorris Sellers, who was heavily involved in preseason Heisman conversations.

Every Saturday, College GameDay also picks what they deem the best games of the weekend. Matchups like West Virginia-Arizona State, South Florida-Navy, Virginia-Duke, Iowa-Southern Cal, Cincinnati-Arizona, TCU-BYU, Oklahoma-Alabama, and Georgia-Texas joined the Pittsburgh-Notre Dame headliner. Despite mentioning Texas A&M multiple times and briefly talking about the game earlier in the broadcast, the panel did not pick Carolina-A&M.

This marked the sixth game in a row without Gamecock representation for the picks.

South Carolina (3-6; 1-6) and Texas A&M (9-0; 6-0) will kick off at noon (Eastern). ESPN will carry the television broadcast, while the ESPN app will make the conference clash available via streaming.

Texas A&M enters as a 19.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM. The Aggies are ranked as the No. 3 team in the country, according to the AP, the coaches poll, and the College Football Playoff Rankings. Carolina, though ranked as high as No. 10 earlier this year, is unranked heading into Saturday.
