Gamecocks offer in-state WR Elijah Caldwell
South Carolina football has officially added a new name to its in-state offer board as Justin Stepp and the Gamecocks extended an offer to Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern three-star wide receiver Elijah Caldwell on Friday.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder committed to West Virginia in July but decommitted in December just before the early signing period and instead chose to wait until February to sign.
That may prove to be a prudent move by the Palmetto State playmaker as the Shrine Bowl performer added an offer from N.C. State in December and has since also added scholarships from Georgia Tech, Purdie and now the Gamecocks.

Caldwell had a massive senior season for the Trojans amassing 77 receptions for 1,365 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2022.
Caldwell also has offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina and Marshall.
Caldwell is the No. 909 overall prospect and No. 134 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 13 player in South Carolina.
South Carolina has already signed five in-state prospects in its 2023 class.

ESPN’s Chris Low reported Friday afternoon Beamer will see over a 100 percent raise to make $6.5 million annually. Gamecock Central reported earlier Friday that it was expecting a new deal for Beamer to be among the athletics contracts approvals this afternoon by the board.
Beamer’s initial contract at South Carolina, approved in December 2020, was a five-year agreement worth $2.75 million per year.
South Carolina’s board is scheduled to meet Friday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. The length of the extension is not yet known.
The second-year coach concluded the 2022 regular season with a pair of victories over top 10 opponents. Up first was a 63-31 trouncing at home against the Tennessee Volunteers, and Beamer’s program followed that with a 31-30 rivalry win over Clemson in the finale.
