South Carolina extends offer to defensive lineman from Columbia-area school
During Friday’s OL/DL camp at South Carolina, the Gamecocks extended a scholarship offer to a talented local player. Dutch Fork High School defensive lineman Jaden Wuerth earned the offer from USC defensive line coach Travian Robertson. He announced the news on social media.
Though Wuerth camped at South Carolina with Dutch Fork, he has yet to play a game for the Silver Foxes. The 6-2.5, 270-pound defender spent his freshman and sophomore years at Aquinas High School in the Peach State but moved to Irmo this offseason. While in Georgia, Werth was a dominant performer, earning two State Defensive Player of the Year honors for his class. He also cracked the All-State squad in both 2023 and 2024.

Though he has played a lot of EDGE and tackle in his career, Wuerth’s weight and strength could move him inside full-time at the collegiate level. Despite having two more years of high school ball in front of him, Wuerth boasts a bench press over 400 pounds and a squat over 500 pounds. For a defensive tackle, he is a good athlete and a fluid mover. His speed-to-power moves and ability to play with leverage when engaged make him nearly unblockable at the high school level. Wuerth doesn’t have the length or explosiveness of college EDGE players, but he could develop into a matchup nightmare inside.

On3 is the only major recruiting outlet to rank Wuerth. He is a 3-star prospect, the No. 63 defensive lineman nationally, and No. 70 overall in Georgia.
In addition to his South Carolina offer, Wuerth has picked up Division-I offers from Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Murray State, Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Kent State. This spring and summer, he has garnered some other power conference interest. Offers from more programs will be on the way soon.
