This week, RotoWire released its SEC Quarter Century Team, honoring the best players in the Southeastern Conference who began their careers since 2000. While there are valid arguments for several former South Carolina football stars, just one Gamecock made the cut. Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is one of two EDGE players on the team, along with Georgia All-American David Pollock.

During his South Carolina football career, Clowney established himself as one of the best EDGE rushers ever. He owns several career, single-season, and single-game Gamecock records, he was a two-time All-American, and he won the 2012 Ted Hendricks Award as the nation’s top defensive end. Clowney was on campus for three seasons. Not coincidentally, USC logged its three top seasons ever, going 11-2 three times in a row. He then was the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Clowney also recently picked up the distinction of making ESPN’s No. 11 play since 2000. “The Hit” from South Carolina’s Outback Bowl victory over Michigan was the choice.
