South Carolina football alum Jaycee Horn, a standout cornerback for the Carolina Panthers, is turning in another strong season at the NFL level.

At the time of this writing, Horn leads the way at his position in early Pro Bowl voting. The former Gamecock is tied for second in the NFL in interceptions (five). That comes despite missing the Panthers’ most recent game with a concussion.

Expected to return from his injury next week against the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints, Horn is in line to make the second Pro Bowl of his career.

The five picks are already a career high. They are also a big reason why South Carolina football has produced more interceptions in the NFL this season than any other collegiate program. (Stat per sportsreference.com)

Joining Horn with five interceptions is Seattle Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones. Fellow Gamecocks Demetrius Knight (two), Nick Emmanwori, Keisean Nixon, Chris Lammons, and DJ Wonnum have also intercepted passes this season.

During his South Carolina football career, Horn was one of the best coverage men ever to don the Block C on his helmet. Horn rarely had balls thrown his way and routinely shut down his side of the field in the passing game. His exceptional performances in garnet and black earned him All-SEC accolades and helped make him the eighth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Horn is USC’s most recent top-10 pick and the seventh in program history.

Gamecock fans wanting to watch Horn in action can tune in to Fox this weekend. The Panthers will be on the road against the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff has been set for 4:25 p.m. Fox will handle the national television broadcast, while the Fox Sports app streams the contest.
