National analyst "a huge fan" of South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers continues to earn offseason hype. The rising redshirt sophomore was so good down the stretch of the 2024 campaign that he earned All-SEC honors, was the league’s Freshman of the Year, and is part of most early preseason Heisman Trophy lists. His growing list of fans has added another in the form of national analyst Joel Klatt of Fox Sports.

Klatt, who ranked Sellers No. 8 in the country in his 2025 offseason quarterback rankings, sang the Gamecock gunslinger’s praises. On his Monday edition of The Joel Klatt Show, the college football pundit called himself “a huge fan” of Sellers.

Said Klatt, “This is a guy who took off the second half of last year. If he can do anything remotely similar to what he did during the second half of last year for the entirety of this year, we have a star on our hands…I am a huge fan of this kid. I think he’s a really good player.”

Klatt also stated that he believes there is untapped potential with Sellers.

“[There’s] still room to grow as a passer, but that’s why I want to bet on the come here with LaNorris Sellers. I think that this guy is a terrific player…You see what he does dynamically on the outside. If he can grow and develop as a passer, you’re talking about a guy who has All-SEC caliber written all over him.”

If Klatt’s optimism is as well-founded as South Carolina fans hope, the Gamecocks could be in for a special season. Last year, USC just missed out on the College Football Playoff, but Shane Beamer’s team has been a popular pick to take the next step in 2025.

Sellers will lead South Carolina for the first time in 2025 on Sunday, August 31st against Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks and Hokies will kick off at 3:00 p.m. inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. ESPN will broadcast the contest, and the ESPN app will make it available via streaming.
