South Carolina football is putting together a formidable list of summer official visits. One of the latest to schedule an OV to Columbia is defensive back Jowell Combay. The Georgia native says that he will be on campus the weekend of June 6th. That same weekend, USC also has a nice combination of committed and uncommitted (priority) targets expected to be in town.

Combay–a 6-2, 190-pound DB rated as a safety by the recruiting industry–is a rising senior at Kell High School outside of Atlanta.

On3 labels Combay as a 3-star prospect. He’s also the No. 994 recruit in the country in the On3 industry rankings–a weighted composite of the rankings from On3, 247Sports, Rivals, and ESPN. Combay is the No. 92 safety nationally and No. 93 overall player in Georgia in the 2026 cycle. Rivals positions him as a 4-star in their individual player rankings.

As a whole, the industry has been late on evaluating Combay. Teams have not been, however, as he holds offers from at least nine SEC programs.

Like most defensive backs recruited by Torrian Gray, Combay is long and has a frame that can add weight. The Peach State native has lots of experience playing over the top, and he has a nose for the football. He doesn’t mind coming to help in run support, either, though he doesn’t have much film playing in the box.

Combay has played on offense at Kell, as well, and he’s a dangerous player with the ball in his hands. That translates to interception returns when he’s on defense. With good speed and instincts with the ball, he is a weapon after a takeaway.
