Through seven games of the 2025 season, things haven’t gone exactly the way South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers had envisioned. The Gamecocks have limped to a 3-4 overall record thanks to a number of issues on the offensive side of the ball. With all of the problems around him, Sellers’ production has slipped, too.

Even so, there’s no denying No. 16’s talent. Despite the difficult season, there have been flashes of his potential that have shone through the Gamecocks’ offensive struggles.

That potential is why Sellers is such a hot NFL Draft commodity. In fact, this week, CBS NFL Draft analyst Blake Brockermeyer projected the South Carolina star No. 1 overall in his most recent mock draft.

Brockermeyer’s mock draft has the New Orleans Saints picking Sellers at No. 1 next spring. If Sellers, indeed, does wind up in the Big Easy, he would reunite with Spencer Rattler in the Saints’ quarterback room. A true freshman Sellers redshirted in 2023 at South Carolina behind Rattler. Rattler has been the starting quarterback for the Saints in 2025 and has had a solid season on a bad team.

Brockermeyer’s CBS colleague Josh Edwards projected Sellers No. 6 to the Cleveland Browns.

Sellers has been included as a first round pick in a lot of other mock drafts this year, too, and turning down that type of payday and opportunity to lead a team would be difficult. However, he has two more years of eligibility remaining if he chooses to use them. The redshirt sophomore will have a decision to make this offseason.

For now, Sellers has five games left in the 2025 regulars season with the Gamecocks. Next up is a date with the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. Kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ABC will carry the national television broadcast, while the ESPN app and ESPN+ stream the contest.
