Former South Carolina assistant set to join Big Ten staff
During the 2025 season, South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer fired two assistant coaches. He then fired another at season’s end. One of the three dismissals was offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. Teasley, who had been on staff since 2021 and who had been the full-time OL coach since 2023, was relieved of duty following the Gamecocks’ loss to LSU in early October.
Now, according to a report from the Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKewon, Teasley has found a new home. Per McKewon, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are “expecting to add” Teasley to the program’s offensive coaching staff. At this time, Nebraska has not announced the hire or the role Teasley could play in Lincoln.
However, the news coincides with Huskers coach Matt Rhule teasing out a “major impact” coaching hire. Though Teasley struggled to field a consistently successful position group with the Gamecocks, he played a big role in bringing significant talent to the South Carolina football program. Since the class of 2023, USC has signed 10 blue-chip offensive line recruits, all of whom Teasley recruited.
Teasley worked previously with Rhule at Temple in 2014 as an off-field assistant offensive line coach.

The Insiders Forum: Discuss South Carolina football!
With Nebraska, Teasley will reunite with another former South Carolina assistant. Tight ends coach Marcus Satterfield, the offensive coordinator at USC in 2021 and 2022, has been with the Cornhuskers since 2023. He was the team’s OC for less than two seasons before losing playcalling responsibilities.
Teasley and Satterfield worked together at Carolina for two seasons. Technically, Teasley was not an on-field assistant coach during those years, but he filled in for offensive line coach Greg Adkins while the veteran coach dealt with health issues.
Following Teasley’s dismissal in Columbia, tight ends coach Shawn Elliott shifted over as the interim offensive line coach. However, head coach Shane Beamer is in the process of filling out his new offensive staff. All signs seem to point to a new leader in the position room for the 2026 season.
