Kick time announced for South Carolina-Missouri Mayor's Cup matchup

Mere minutes after South Carolina’s showdown with Vanderbilt came to a merciful end, the SEC announced the Gamecocks’ kickoff time for next week. With Shane Beamer’s team heading to the “other Columbia” on September 20th for the Mayor’s Cup matchup with Missouri, the Southeastern Conference revealed the conference meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. ESPN will broadcast the contest, and the ESPN app will make it available via streaming.
Like many games on the South Carolina schedule, USC-Mizzou was originally given a “flex” label. Last week, that “flex” was amended to be a 7:00 or 7:45 start time. The network was up in the air, as well, as both ESPN and ABC were in play.
Carolina will need to bounce back after an extremely disappointing showing against Vandy. Losing 31-7, the Gamecocks also lost their 16-game winning streak over the ‘Dores. Despite a 2-1 start, the USC offense has scored just five touchdowns this fall.
Meanwhile, Missouri will enter next Saturday coming off a 52-10 win over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns. The Tigers are averaging over 52 points per game during their 3-0 start to the 2025 season.

Last season, South Carolina knocked off Missouri in a classic at Williams-Brice Stadium. A LaNorris Sellers to Rocket Sanders shovel pass in the closing minute sent the Columbia crowd into a frenzy that caused local seismographs to register “earthquake-like” readings. Prior to that victory, the Gamecocks had lost five in a row to the Tigers.
USC hasn’t won in CoMo since 2017. That victory was just the second road win in this series in program history, joining the “Miracle in Missouri” game famous for Connor Shaw’s second-half (and overtime) heroics.
