On Saturday night, South Carolina took on the Kentucky Wildcats in a must-win contest at night in Williams-Brice Stadium. A sold-out crowd in Columbia witnessed a beatdown, as the Gamecocks picked up the victory they needed. When the final whistle blew, Shane Beamer’s team had won comfortably, 35-13.

The bounce-back performance from USC moved Carolina’s overall record to 3-2. The Gamecocks also now own a 1-2 mark in SEC play.

With the game on SEC Network during a primetime slot, plenty of eyes were on the conference matchup. Below are some of the national reactions to South Carolina’s lopsided win.

YouTuber GFed, who visits venues all across the country, had major praise for South Carolina’s pregame festivities inside Williams-Brice Stadium.

South Carolina really flipped the game with back-to-back defensive touchdowns in the second quarter, a combo strip sack from Dylan Stewart and JT Geer that then resulted in a Geer scoop-and-score and a pick-six from Gerald Kilgore. Former Gamecock All-American Nick Emmanwori celebrated Kilgore’s score by remembering his own from last year’s game against Kentucky.

Some individual South Carolina players also earned national recognition for their highlight-reel plays.

Even the SEC Network’s official social media page was impressed with quarterback LaNorris Sellers’ Houdini impression on this escape.

On3’s Pete Nakos wrote a story this summer following an interview with Gamecock EDGE Dylan Stewart. On Saturday, he acknowledged Stewart backing up his offseason words with one of several big plays against the Wildcats.

Before the game was over, the outcome was decided. KSR’s Jack Pilgrim even said that the Gamecocks were punking the Wildcats. South Carolina has now won four in a row in the series, including three by double-digit scoring margins.

Head coach Shane Beamer had his own postgame reaction on Saturday night. Following the blowout victory, he called out a Kentucky coach for some comments about “Beamer Ball” this week.
