South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables meet after the Gamecocks 35-9 victory (C.J. Driggers/GamecockCentral).

This weekend, South Carolina will take on LSU at night in Baton Rouge. However, next weekend’s game against Oklahoma will mark a return to Williams-Brice Stadium.

This preseason, the SEC announced that the Gamecocks (3-2; 1-2) and Sooners (5-0; 1-0) would play an early game but gave no details regarding an official kick time.

That didn’t really change on Monday when the SEC provided more information on next weekend’s schedule.

According to the Southeastern Conference, the second-ever meeting between South Carolina and Oklahoma will begin at either noon or 12:45 p.m. on October 18th and will air on either ABC or the SEC Network. LSU at Vanderbilt is the other game in consideration for the early slots.

The Sooners’ first trip to Columbia will be just the second non-night game of the season for South Carolina and will end a streak of five late kicks in a row. The Gamecocks won their only other non-night contest this season, a Sunday afternoon affair against Virginia Tech in game one.

Last year, South Carolina jumped out on Oklahoma early, using three early turnovers (including two returned for touchdowns) to cruise to a 35-9 victory in Norman. Nick Emmanwori and Tonka Hemingway scored, and the defense combined for nine sacks by nine different players in the domination.

This year’s matchup against Oklahoma will coincide with the South Carolina State Fair.

Brent Venables’ team is currently undefeated and ranked sixth in both the AP top 25 and the coaches poll. Before traveling to Columbia, Oklahoma will play Texas in the Red River Shootout.

Before the Oklahoma contest, South Carolina will be vying for their second SEC win in a row. The Gamecocks and LSU Tigers (4-1; 1-1) will kick off at 7:45 p.m. (Eastern). SEC Network will broadcast the SEC showdown, while the ESPN app streams the game.
