On Thursday, South Carolina football extended a scholarship offer to class of 2027 defensive back Aamaury Fountain. The Warner Robbins, Georgia product is seeing his recruitment blow up, as he has pulled in at least six power conference offers this week, including ones from SEC programs like the Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies. The home-state Georgia Bulldogs are involved, as well.

Fountain announced his new offer on social media, while also shouting out Gamecock defensive backs coach Torrian Gray.

Fountain, like virtually every defensive back Gray recruits, has good positional length and athleticism. He is listed at 6-2 or 6-3, depending upon where you look, and he uses that length well.

A Northside High School standout, Fountain has had an excellent start to his junior season. He combines a lot of physical upside with an advanced football IQ, making it obvious why big-time programs are coming around on him as a prospect.

Making Fountain an even more intriguing recruit, this fall is his first playing cornerback. He was a former quarterback but made the transition this summer. The explosive athlete has adapted to his new spot very well and should only continue improving as he gains experience.

Because of his position change, Fountain is relatively new to the recruiting scene. He does not have official ratings or rankings yet. However, with his upside, that will likely change soon.

South Carolina does not have a player committed in the class of 2027. The Gamecocks have several players who have transitioned from quarterback to the secondary, including senior DQ Smith and class of 2026 pledge Triston Lewis.
