Highest-rated South Carolina commitment shuts down recruitment

On Thursday, South Carolina football commitment Aiden Harris delivered a piece of good news to Gamecock Nation. The class of 2026 pledge announced on social media that he had “officially shut down” his recruitment. He will sign with USC alongside his twin brother, Andrew Harris, a four-star linebacker prospect.
Aiden Harris is a four-star defensive line prospect who has played all over the front for his Weddington High School squad. South Carolina plans to play him at defensive tackle as part of Travian Robertson’s position room.
Harris’ decision to shut down his recruitment doesn’t come as a surprise. The North Carolina native told GamecockCentral, “It just always felt like home here (at South Carolina). Even though I had my ups and downs with certain colleges, they were just one of the main schools to always be there for me.”

While Harris was on his official visit in June, several other big-time Gamecock targets were on campus, too. His brother Andrew, USC commitments Zyon Guiles (four-star offensive lineman) and Keenan Britt (three-star linebacker), and major targets Landon Duckworth (four-star quarterback), Noah Clark (four-star defensive tackle), and Kosci Barnes (three-star defensive back) were among the names on the visit list. Since that weekend, Clark and the Harris brothers have committed, and Duckworth and Barnes seem to favor South Carolina ahead of upcoming announcements.

Listed at 6-3 and 250 pounds, Harris is an impressive athlete for the defensive tackle position. He makes himself nearly unblockable by combining plus movement ability with power and a strong understanding of leverage. He has shown an ability to be an impact player both against the run and rushing the passer.
Harris is a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 55 overall player in On3’s industry player ranking. He also ranks No. 3 nationally among defensive linemen and No. 4 in a loaded class in North Carolina.
