On Thursday, Crescent High School wide receiver Amiri Acker picked up a scholarship offer from South Carolina. A native of the Upstate, Acker recently had popped onto the Gamecock recruiting radar and had seemed to be gaining some traction with the home-state program. The offer from USC wide receivers coach Mike Furrey confirmed as much. Furrey offered the class of 2026 pass-catcher following a strong showing at camp on Thursday.

South Carolina joins Boston College, Michigan State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, USF, Georgia Tech, and NC State as power conference teams who have entered the Amiri Acker sweepstakes.

So far, Acker only has official visits scheduled to Kentucky and Liberty. His scheduled date for the Kentucky trip is this weekend, and he has scheduled a trip to Liberty next weekend.

Acker is one of just a small handful of wide receiver targets for the Gamecocks in the class of 2026. South Carolina signed six scholarship wideouts (four from the Palmetto State) in the previous cycle. Because of that, this year’s haul likely will be a small one.

Listed at 6-1 and 185 pounds, Acker’s game is built on speed. He has run verified 100-meter track times in the 10.5s and ran in the 4.4s in the 40-yard dash while at camp on Thursday. Acker also can make defenders miss in space and plays physically enough to high-point the football in 50-50 situations.

As his recruitment has heated up, On3 recently ranked Acker as a 3-star prospect. The talented wideout is now No. 972 overall in the On3 industry ranking. He’s also No. 156 among all receivers and No. 13 in the state of South Carolina.
