Some details on priority South Carolina football target Maxwell Hiller and Colton Hiller, his five-star hooper younger brother

Coatesville Area Senior High School in Pennsylvania has an enrollment of under 1500 students, but the Red Raiders boast one of the nation’s top players on the gridiron and another on the hardwood. Amazingly, both players live under the same roof.
Maxwell Hiller and Colton Hiller don’t just share a last name and a tight bond forged from being siblings so close in age. No, the brothers Hiller also share the distinction of being future five-star prospects.
According to the most recent class of 2027 update, big brother Max is Rivals’ No. 25 overall player. He’s also No. 2 among all interior offensive linemen and No. 2 in Pennsylvania.
When Rivals dropped its initial hoops rankings for 2028, little brother Colton slotted in at No. 3 overall. He also occupies the No. 1 spot in Pennsylvania and is No. 1 nationally among all small forwards.
Both Hillers hold four-star ratings next to their names, but based on ranking, they will be considered five-star prospects soon enough.
Max is one of the top players on South Carolina football’s 2027 recruiting board. He has visited Columbia on multiple occasions and repeatedly includes the Gamecocks among his favorite programs.
After naming a top five of USC, Penn State, Clemson, Alabama, and Tennessee, Hiller told Rivals, “I feel like I fit in at South Carolina.” Maryland, Ohio State, and Georgia are among the other teams still involved.
Offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley has been pursuing Max Hiller hard for some time. The Gamecocks pulled the trigger on an offer in March. Current South Carolina OL commitments like five-star Darius Gray have taken to social media to aid in the recruiting efforts.
The elder Hiller earned Polynesian Bowl All-American honors. He is a ferocious run blocker with all the tools necessary to become an elite pass blocker at the next level. Having spent most of his sophomore year at right tackle, he has shifted to left tackle so far this fall.
Positionally, Rivals and 247Sports rate Hiller as a future interior lineman, while ESPN considers him a tackle prospect. He has the athletic profile and size to do either effectively. Showcasing that athleticism, he also sees time at defensive tackle for his high school squad.
For those curious: yes, Max hoops, too. The big man plays in the post for Coatesville and has picked up an offer from La Salle as a basketball player.

Because Colton just started his sophomore year of high school, his recruitment has begun heating up only recently. At this time, South Carolina only has one public scholarship offer out in the ’28 cycle, Columbia native Mason Collins, another top 10 national prospect. However, the Gamecocks are aware of the younger Hiller.
Colton is a long and versatile scorer who can get a bucket against anyone. He made Team USA’s U16 roster at 14 years old and then played up again for the U17 PSA Cardinals. He has been a force on the offensive end, both for Coatesville and for his AAU squad in the summer circuits. National analyst Jamie Shaw even said the dynamic wing was in consideration for the top spot in Rivals’ player rankings.
Colton is just a hooper, but he has tagged along with his big brother on some of his football recruiting visits. If South Carolina gets involved with him, perhaps the duo will take a tandem trip to Columbia.

There is still plenty of time before Maxwell and Colton Hiller wrap up their respective recruitments.
Max will focus on his junior season at Coatesville while taking some unofficial visits to see his top schools, including South Carolina. Through that process, he told Rivals that he knows what he is looking to see on those visits. “Development, relationships, being able to get on the field early, and just feeling at home are the big things on my checklist,” he explained.
Colton also knows what he wants in a future college home. “I definitely want to play for a coach where how I play fits the coach’s scheme,” he told Rivals. “I want to play for a program where I can have the ball in my hands a little bit and have the freedom to get to my spots whenever I want. That’s kind of it, really.” The younger Hiller has only visited Penn State so far, but that will change soon.
Neither Hiller brother has a firm timetable set for a commitment. Safe to say, though, Coatesville, Pennsylvania will be a place worth watching.
