South Carolina football is gearing up for its final on-campus recruiting weekend before the summer dead period. You can read GamecockCentral’s Wes Mitchell’s full preview of the big official visit weekend here.
With several priority Gamecock targets on campus for official and unofficial visits, Shane Beamer and his staff will be doing all they can to help improve a 2026 class that already ranks No. 17 overall in the country and No. 7 in the Southeastern Conference. As it turns out, they will have a little help.

Four-star tight end pledge Jamel Howse is joining, too, a late addition to the OV list. Per previous GamecockCentral reporting, twin commitments Andrew Harris (four-star linebacker) and Aiden Harris (four-star defensive lineman) are expected in Columbia, as well.

With Currence, Howse, and the Harris twins on campus, South Carolina will have additional recruiters on the job to help Beamer and company. The reinforcements can only help the Gamecocks’ chances of having a big weekend finale.
Starting on Monday, June 23rd, college football enters a dead period that will last over a month. The restriction period lifts on Friday, August 1st. During the dead period, coaches can have no in-person contact with recruits, meaning no more visits. That does not mean, though, that coaches cannot contact players at all. With phone contact still permissible, South Carolina football fans can have optimism that Coach Beamer will deliver a handful of #WelcomeHome messages throughout the rest of the summer.
