Five-star South Carolina commit makes midseason all-state team on both offense and defense

South Carolina football’s highest-rated commitment in the class of 2026 is five-star Darius Gray. The Richmond, Virginia native is enjoying a standout senior season at St. Christopher’s School. This is so true, in fact, that when On3 Virginia high school sports guru Will Garlick named his midseason all-state teams for the Old Dominion, Gray was the only player to earn recognition on both sides of the football.
Gray will be an offensive lineman for the Gamecocks. He has been a stone wall in pass protection for St. Christopher’s and is a bully in the run game. His five-star status comes as an interior blocker, but he has played a lot of tackle at the high school level.
On the other side of the ball, Gray has been a game-wrecking force on the defensive line. He has eight sacks and 11 tackles for loss in just five games this season. Behind his excellence, it is no surprise that the Saints are 4-1 and a real contender for a state title.
Adding to his impressive prep resume, Gray was last season’s state player of the year in basketball among Virginia’s private schools. He is an impressive athlete for a player who stands 6-2 and weighs just south of 300 pounds.

Gray committed to South Carolina back in August. Joining Gray with in-state pledge Zyon Guiles, the Gamecocks have the two highest-rated interior offensive linemen in the country committed in the 2026 cycle, according to Rivals’ player rankings.
For Gray, the Rivals Industry Ranking currently lists him as the No. 31 overall player in the class. He’s also No. 1 among interior offensive linemen and No. 2 in the state of Virginia.
