South Carolina offers talented freshman EDGE rusher
Since spring practice ended, the South Carolina football coaching staff has dispensed a large number of offers to underclassman standouts. In fact, USC has offered scholarships to players all over the country in recent weeks. On Thursday, Pennsylvania native George Parkinson, a freshman in the class of 2028, announced on social media that he had earned a Gamecock offer.
Parkinson also holds offers from Penn State, Maryland, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Duke, and Syracuse. With three more years of high school remaining, there is still a long way to go in this one, but the Gamecocks are putting their name into the ring early.
While On3 has not yet ranked the ’28 cycle, Parkinson has picked up the distinction of being the No. 2 player in the class in the state of Pennsylvania by Prep Redzone. The Malvern Prep Academy product had a dominant freshman season, logging 15 sacks and 17 additional tackles for loss.

On film, Parkinson has shown off some solid athletic traits and a never-ending motor. He plays hard and fast, and he delivers punishing hits when given the opportunity. He’s also a strong and fluid athlete who can win reps using strength, speed, or by using his advanced hands. At just 15 years old, Parkinson has logged a bench press max over 300 pounds and is approaching that number with his power clean.
Currently 6-4 and 228 pounds with length and bend, Parkinson looks like an EDGE rusher. If he can continue adding good weight and strength while retaining his explosiveness, his future is extremely bright. His recruitment should be competitive, but it doesn’t hurt the Gamecocks’ chances to get involved early.
