2027 WR Jabari Watkins committed to Nebraska

On Thursday, South Carolina extended an offer to talented wide receiver Jabari Watkins. Watkins, who is committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, is one of the top wideouts in the state of Georgia in the class of 2027. He announced his new offer on social media.

Watkins is a 6-3 Georgia native who plays his high school ball at Thomas County Central High School. Thomas County is in South Georgia, an area where the Gamecocks have become heavy hitters in the recruiting world in recent cycles.

Watkins committed to Nebraska in September, but he has never been to Lincoln. His most recent visit was one to Illinois. Watkins will be at Florida State this weekend for the Seminoles’ rivalry matchup with the Miami Hurricanes. It remains to be seen if South Carolina can squeeze into the picture.

As a player, Watkins is a good blend of size and speed at the wide receiver position. He can run past most high school defensive backs but has enough ball skills to turn 50-50 balls into 90-10 balls in his favor.

The Rivals Industry ranking considers Watkins to be the nation’s No. 361 overall prospect in the ’26 cycle. He is also No. 40 in the talent-rich state of Georgia and No. 49 nationally among receivers. He is right on the cusp of four-star status.

At this time, South Carolina does not have a commitment in the class of 2027. Following a huge haul in 2025, the Gamecocks seem to be taking a small crop of receivers in 2026. Only four-star Sequel Patterson has pledged to USC at the position. That opens the door for a potentially larger class of pass-catchers in 2027.
