South Carolina hosted another camp day on Wednesday, and several prospects caught the collective eye of the Gamecock coaching staff. One of those players was class of 2027 offensive lineman Junior Saunders. Following a strong effort inside the Jerri and Steve Spurrier Indoor Practice Facility, Saunders announced on social media that he had earned a scholarship offer from USC.

Head coach Shane Beamer offered Saunders, and the big fella couldn’t contain his excitement. He told GamecockCentral, “When Coach Beamer offered me, I was the happiest kid on that field, definitely. Couldn’t stop smiling.”

Saunders, a 6-5, 290-pound offensive tackle from Woodberry Forest High School in Virginia, is a big, athletic tackle. Despite his size, he possesses a frame that has room to add weight without fear of forfeiting his athleticism. Saunders plays both ways for Woodberry Forest, but his offensive line film is most impressive.

On that film, he routinely moves defenders off the ball in dominating fashion. He fires off with ill intentions in the run game and has athletic feet in pass protection. With some refining of his technique, he could turn into a big-time player at the college level.

Saunders was a MaxPreps Freshman All-American a couple of years ago and enters his junior season this fall with rising expectations. Now considered a 4-star prospect, he ranks as the No. 321 overall player in the On3 industry ranking. Saunders is also No. 25 nationally among offensive tackle recruits and No. 4 overall in Virginia.

In addition to his South Carolina offer, Saunders boasts offers from a long list of power conference programs, including Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Maryland, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh. Though he is closer to several other programs on his offer list, Saunders has family in Columbia.
